Night Defender, the world's first fully robotic security sentinel. The Ultimate Crime Deterrent, incorporates a super bright LED array that turns on, locates and follows intruders as they move within a protected area. Night Defender's movement routine is so convincing that intruders leave the area believing that they have been watched and recorded by a human operator.
Night Defender detects, follows, and tracks people within a protected area. If the person moves to the right, then Night Defender rotates to the right. If the person moves to the left, Night Defender rotates to the left. If more than one person is present, Night Defender will oscillate between the multiple individuals.
Night Defender stops undesirable activity by convincing people that they have been detected and are being watched and followed before they have committed any crimes. Completely wireless, passive infrared personnel sensors are set around the protection zone to notify Night Defender where an intruder is located.

The standard Night Defender package includes four wireless motion sensors, a CCTV camera mount as well as connections for 12/24vdc camera power and video signal. Night Defender technology represents the world's first fully robotic security device. On its own it will detect and respond to the presence of personnel within a given protected area.
The standard model comes equipped with a 200 bulb super bright LED array. The unit also contains a photoelectric switch enabling the option to turn the LEDs ON only after dark or turn ON whenever personnel activity is detected, day or night.
The Night Defender unit can be programmed to supply an "Alert Output" based upon selectable criteria determined by the end user. Night Defender will send out an RF signal to an optional Voice Alert receiver/speaker (within 1000 feet). The Voice Alert receiver can make a voice announcement on site and trigger a call to a monitoring center.
The basic Night Defender model BD-LED has been upgraded to include an option for off-site control ... potentially from anywhere in the world. Using the new controller interface card, any device that can deliver dry contact closure of COM to N/O will be able to trigger the Night Defender unit to rotate left or right as directed by an operator. The new interface cards will be easily accessible in the power hook-up box and contain terminals for four NEG feeds as well as inputs for the four zones. Applying a negative feed to any input will prompt the Night Defender unit to respond as if a sensor had triggered the unit. At the same time however, the Night Defender will not be off-line and will in fact continue to respond to any field activity that might occur. The actual Controller Interface card, along with it's companion Auxiliary Hook-up card (used for auxiliary power and Alarm Output connections) can be easily detached and re-attached to the Night Defender unit using convenient, color coded RJ-45 cables. This allows an installer to remove the cards for easy wiring hook-up and then quickly plug them back into the system for full operation. |

FUNCTION |
Area search when activity detected |
When activity is detected in a given area, Night Defender will automatically rotate to face the activated zone. Night Defender will stop, and then continue to rotate to the adjacent zones briefly, as if looking for additional activity. Night Defender will then return to the initial activated zone and track the target. The purpose of this feature is to recreate the actions of a human operator if they suspected activity by several intruders. |
Area search during current live situation |
In some situations (such as an auto dealer after hours or parking garages) people are allowed to be present. When activity is detected, Night Defender will respond and light the target zone. Night Defender will periodically make small rotational moves to the left and right and then return back to the target zone. We call this move a "growl". Night Defender will growl to convince people that they are still being watched. |
Area search after the termination of sustained activity |
If one or more zones have detected sustained activity and then the activity stops, Night Defender will hold its position for a set time. It will not simply turn its light off and go to sleep. Night Defender will then initiate an area wide search of all zones as if the system operator wanted to make sure that everyone had left the area. Night Defender will rotate from zone to zone and stop to "look" at each area. Night Defender will then do a wide panning search in both directions returning to the area where activity was last seen. Night Defender will then turn its light off. |
Sentinel Moves during times of no activity |
During times of no zone activity, Night Defender, with light OFF, will initiate a series of small rotational moves to the left and right. |
Periodic Area searches during times of no activity Programmable Delayed Alarm Output Photo-Cell bypass switch to select light-during-daylight operation. |
Every 30 minutes, during times of no activity, Night Defender will initiate an area wide search with the light ON. These Periodic Area Searches will not be initiated if activity is present during the time when this search is scheduled. When the activity has terminated the Periodic Area Searches will again be initiated 30 minutes after the termination of the last activity. Night Defender can be programmed to trigger a call out via a hard-wired or wireless link to a monitoring station or individual. The program sets the level and duration of activity that must be met before that alarm output is triggered. Night Defender has an internal ON/OFF switch for the photo-cell to allow or disable the light from turning on during daylight hours. |
